How to Use This Pitch Count Chart
After every game, record how many pitches each pitcher threw. Find that number in the “Pitches Thrown” column for the pitcher's age group, and the chart tells you how many calendar days of rest are required before they can pitch again. The day of the game does not count as a rest day — so a pitcher who throws 60 pitches at age 12 (3 days rest) is eligible again on the fourth day after the game.
Why Pitch Count Rest Days Matter
Overuse is the leading cause of arm injuries in youth pitchers. The American Sports Medicine Institute (ASMI) recommends strict pitch-count monitoring as the single most effective way to prevent elbow and shoulder injuries in young athletes. Rest-day rules are mandatory in Little League and most youth organizations, and they apply across every team a player pitches for — not just yours.
Pitch limits are just one of many rules a coach has to track. See all configurable pitching and lineup rules →
